A solid fourth in the
PASS opener at White Mountain matches the start of the 2004 season. And with the tangles
that took place right in front of Johnny in the race, it was great to have the #54 in one
piece. Johnny posted a
12.382 in time trials for fourth quickest. A run to second in the Dash saw Johnny start
the feature alongside fast timer and dash winner Mike Rowe. At the green Johnny led lap
one and then settled into second behind Mike who looked like he would be cruising to the
finish.
But a tangle with a lapped car sent Mike Rowe back
to 7th. The front pack of Ben Rowe, Tracy Gordon, Cassius Clark, Scott Mulkern, Johnny,
and Mike ran together with side by side action and position swapping. As Mulkern ran
strong up high and Mike Rowe tried to get back up front, Johnny ran from third to fifth
for most of the race. With Mike's rear tires used up at the race's end, Johnny took back
fourth on lap 143. |
